Court rejects legal action against police brutality

at the 2005 CzechTek techno-festival

Prague City court rejected on Wednesday the 20th of June, 2007 two administrative charges against the police procedures during the teknival (freetekno festival) CzechTek in the summer of 2005. The charges wanted the police’s actions to been announced as illegal.

The court rejection was based on the accordance of Czech law, which states that the only procedure which can be charged is one where illegal action of the state authority continues. According to the court, this condition was not fulfilled, and even if so, it is not their authority to judge the illegality of the police action. The members of CzechTek who proposed the charge, were represented by the non-state organization Iuridicum Remedium (www.iure.org).

CzechTek 2007 And Probally All CzechTek`s Finished !!

"In regard of the fact that the situation around CzechTek isn't bearable anymore, the representatives of Czech freetekno community came to this radical decision:

This year (and very probably even never again) any action of the size and under the name CzechTek won't be realized.

And these are the reasons:
• the gradual abolition of original ideas of freetekno
• parasitic behavior of subjects not connected to the scene (including major part of visitors themselves)

Free4Alternatives is an activist group originating from the Free Spaces scene (Free Parties, Teknivals, Squats, Traveller sites, TAZ...) who stand together to fight against the growing restrictions on our liberties and to fight for autonomy and the right to live an alternative existence. We will attempt to assemble our scene at the blockades and protests against the G8 2007 summit, which will be held from 2nd - 8th June in Heiligendamm (Rostock, Germany), and plan to organise a Free Artistic Space there.
